Foresight is the distinctive competence of performing effectively relative to your competitors. The book Blindsided by Jim Harris offers a good insight into this process. It involves systems thinking. System thinking skills are best understood from Peter Senge's book The Fifth Discipline. It is seeing emergence of a window of opportunity from the connections of parts. It is often gained by reading the thinking in the management gurus books. "I stood on the shoulders of giants" ( Issac Newton ) to give you a view of their future.
